BOC Shoot in Lekki || Nigeria Portrait Photographer

November 9, 2010

So when Femi aka Flow asked me to come shoot his band, BOC, I was a little nervous. I had never shot a group of guys before and any photographer will tell you that the dynamics of shooting a group of men is very different to shooting a guy and his girl or a guy on his own. It's a delicate balance of the individual personalities  versus the cohesiveness of the group. But never one to turn down a challenge, I said "Sure - I would love to!" .

Well I needn't have worried because BOC - Emphacy, Shacy, Fatt Beatz, Izeal and Mr Flow himself -  are an awesome group of guys. Good looking, funny and most importantly showmen. You know how I love anyone who can work the camera and these fellas sure did. So I simply asked them to do their thing and I did mine ;-).

We worked in three locations including the studio and got a lot of different looks, which I am very pleased with. More importantly, the guys loved their images and much to my delight after seeing the finished product, Flow had the following status update on his Facebook page a couple of hours later:

"Wani Olatunde (Olajiga) is the "baddest" photographer in gidi.... Tell dem Flow says so and it is authentic!" on Saturday"

Now how's that for an endorsement!

Just wanted to say a big thank you to the guys for letting me shoot you. For all you fans out there, BOC's single "Mo Ya To" will be released next Friday - so keep a look out. And as always here are some of my favourite images from the session.

Take care

  1. Oh, these are the "Nipa Ife Olugbala" guys! Love that song! For a first time shot for a group of men, I must say you captured their personalities quite well. I had more than a few favorite shots too. Two thumbs up!

    1. Thanks - actually everytime I see these images, I hear the song in my head cause it was playing all through the shoot. It was a fun session for sure.
