So I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the Italy vs. Slovakia game at Ellis Park in Joburg yesterday, which was an excellent game albeit highly disappointing for me as a (former) fan of the Italian team.
Before I go onto the images, I really just want to commend South Africa on how well they have hosted the World Cup from a logistical and organisational point of view. Ellis park has a capacity of 60,000 and was at over 90% capacity for the match but I never felt like there were too many people and getting to and fro from the venue was incident-free. So WELL DONE South Africa, Bafana Bafana may not have qualified but you are indeed a wonderful host.
Now on to the images - the Slovakian team never let up while the Italians didn't show up to play till the last 5 minutes of the game at which point it was too little too late. All in all, it was a fantastic experience with an absolutely electric atmosphere and I can't wait till the next game.
Cheers
