Happy Anniversary to WOP...Woohoo!

POSTED IN

A year ago today, I quit my job as a Project Financier at a top investment bank in Lagos and ended 6 years of a pretty decent career as a global investment banker to pursue my passion and become a full time photographer.

Initially, I had very little support and was filled with great doubt and quite honestly, fear, about this seemingly huge risk I was about to take. I wasn't sure anyone would think I was good enough to want to pay for my work and so I gave myself 6 months to figure out if I had just made the worst decision of my life.

A year later and I am proud to say that I am slowly building a business that I know my family and I can be proud off. I have worked tirelessly to the point of obsession and insomnia and invested in both education and equipment to ensure that not only am I creating beautiful, timeless imagery for my clients but I am constantly working to create a photography experience that is relaxed, easy and most importantly fun. Not only do I finally value myself and my work as an artist but more importantly I am attracting brides who appreciate my artistic eye, professional attitude and the overall quality of everything I have to offer and are willing to pay a premium for it.

I am a long way from where I want to be and I still have a tonne of growing to do both as a person and as a business but I am sincerely grateful to everyone who has supported thus far, whether it be through following my work, commenting on my blog, referring me to your loved ones, sharing your knowledge and experience with me - I appreciate it and I truly appreciate you. And of course to my amazing, beautiful and ultra fabulous clients, for the ones who took a risk on a newbie photographer and for each of you that allow me to document your love and life stories - I am grateful for you and thank you for allowing me to be part of your lives.

I'm excited about what the future brings and I look forward to growing with you.

So happy anniversary to WOP and since no celebration would be complete without cake - you can help me blow out the candle on mine (I'll save you a piece ;-))...one, two, three....

God bless
Wani
