I DO WEDDINGS - Vendor Spotlight

Ahh yes, the time has come for our second vendor spotlight and I'm very excited to introduce I Do Weddings by Timi Ejiwumi.

I Do Weddings is a wedding solutions company, which started off primarily with wedding planning and has now expanded to other services including a beautiful bridal line complete with bridal accessories i.e. veils, boleros, hair accessories etc. I'm a big believer in local talent and so I love that the bridal line, "Love, Tims", is aimed at the up and coming bride who wants to look elegant without having to fly abroad to find her dream dress. Less hassle and cost without comprising on the quality and variety? It doesn't get much better than that. 🙂

I met Timi at a wedding I shot earlier this year and thought she did such a fabulous job with the wedding from the wedding planning aspect, I knew I just had to introduce her to you guys. So without further ado, here's Timi:

p.s.: all contact details are at the end of the post.

1. There are so many reasons to hire a wedding consultant, but if you could only give one to a bride & groom, what would it be?

I'd tell a bride and groom that having spent so much money on amazing decor, food, band, dj etc the worst thing is for all those vendors not to work harmoniously together and for them to have a disorganised day. Truth is the amount of time, money and effort that has gone into all the wedding elements may be wasted if it isn't planned properly. No matter how organised you are you cannot plan from your head table. Family members and friends cannot do the a job professionally and objectively they will always satisfy the people they know better and get distracted with things like dancing etc. A wedding planner can be there from inception to ensure everything runs smoothly and give you advice from a professional stand point. They can also provide creative input and give you resources that you don't have. Of course on the actual day they would be objective and professional in ensuring that the wedding day is well planned and coordinated.

2. How long have you been in the wedding business?

I actually formed the company in 2009. I planned a few weddings then took a long break to attend law school and complete my bar exams, after that I went on to gain some corporate experience. I officially started again on 1st of March this year. So much has happened since then I feel like I've been doing it for years! To be honest I never really stopped as I was subconsciously working towards building a wedding solutions company the entire time.

3. What inspired you to start working in the wedding industry?

Simply because it's my passion and love what I love to do. I also didn't know of a one stop wedding solutions company that catered to various wedding needs in Nigeria. I knew innately that I had the passion to create just that and provide value and creativity. A lot of people have very niche expertise but what I do is offer a range of services which will get wider over time so watch this space.

4. What type of clients do you find yourself most working with?

All sorts, the wedding planning tranche of the business sees a lot of elaborate personalities who want big and amazing weddings. The bridal side sees all sorts of personalities from the larger than life Kimora Lee Simmons type personality, to the softer more demure bride, mature brides and of course brides on a budget. I see it all, and I like that because it adds a variety to what I do.

5. What are the top qualities you possess that makes you uniquely suited for wedding consulting?

I am organised, I pay attention to detail, I am romantic, I am focused and I'm passionate. Being organised and paying attention to detail is key because brides want their visions to be actualised. Being romantic adds a softness and being passionate adds an extra flair to what I do. Lastly being focused means I'm driven to execute jobs excellently.

6. What is your favorite part of the wedding planning process?

I love collaborating with my brides and putting all the ideas together and then seeing them come to life.

7. What is your favorite part of the wedding day?

As a planner, it is when the party starts and I have achieved a near flawless execution. What drives me is knowing like my clients have been through the day and felt like everything went according to plan and they can now enjoy themselves.

8. Did you plan your own wedding?

Of course! I had my Aunty provide on the day co-ordination as I couldn't do that from the head table lol.

9. Anything you would do differently now you are in the "biz"?

Maybe I would have chosen a different dress and a different location for my pictures.

10. Any interesting facts we should know that will make you even more fabulous? 🙂

Hmmm, I'm really not one to toot my own horn so perhaps one of my clients is best equipped to say what makes me fabulous.

  1. nice! great idea. i think wedding consultants can sometimes be overlooked, but i know from my experience that working them is wonderful!!! they are nearly just as invested in the day as the bride, and timi definitely proves that point!
